Thank you for your interest in the LULAC Mainland Council #22427 Student Scholarship.
Please read all the information on this page.
Please check back for application information for 2027.
To qualify you must have applied to or be enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university, including 2-year colleges, or vocational schools that lead to an associate’s degree. Graduate students must have applied to or be enrolled as a part-time student in a college or university.

• IMPORTANT: Each local council has their own stipulations to apply.
For Mainland Council #22427, applicant must be a resident of Galveston County or have an affiliation with #22427, and must complete a minimum of 8 volunteer service hours. When applying please select Council #22427 as your local council.
Texas City HS students, please select Council #255. If you do not meet their resident requirements you may apply with #22427.
Galveston Ball HS students, please select Council #151.
Our application process typically follows this timeline:
Late February - Applications available
March 31 - Applications due
Early April - Committee meets to review and select recipients
Mid June - Applicants notified of award status
July - Host a reception to honor and recognize the achievements of our scholarship recipients and award checks
Please be prepared to upload the following:1. High School or College transcript showing GPA. Grades and academic performance will serve as indicators of potential; however, emphasis may be placed on the individual’s motivation, sincerity, and integrity, which can best be revealed through the personal essay. Community involvement and leadership activities will also be considered.2. Student MUST provide a minimum of eight (8) volunteer hours with a non-profit organization. Hours can be obtained April 2026 through March 2027. Examples include LULAC Mainland #22427 events, Food Bank, Church, etc. Documentation of hours must be in the form of a letter with the non-profit organization name, date/hours volunteered, description of duties and contact person name and phone.3. Verification of admittance from the institution the student plans to attend (i.e., letter of acceptance) or enrollment verification showing enrollment hours for current college students.
