About Us

While LULAC itself has been in existence for over 90 years, Mainland 22427 is a fairly new council. We are in our fifth year and look forward to growing in our communities. Our main goal is to raise Scholarship funds to award area youth wishing to pursue higher education. LULAC believes that an education provides stability in life, and it’s something that no one can ever take away from you. Whether it be attending a college, university, community college, vocational or technical school, we're here to help increase your chances for better career opportunities and open new doors for yourself.

Supporting Our Community

As a civil rights and community service organization, Mainland Council members meet to support educational attainment, youth leadership, charitable causes, to socialize, and to share educational and personal growth in our communities. Through outreach and advocacy efforts, we work to gain and sustain civic engagement in the community. Below are some of the ways we volunteer our time. Visit us and support our communities at these upcoming events: -Cinco de Mayo event! Each year we participate in Galveston's Mardi Gras to showcase our culture in the Fiesta Gras parades. This year our youth group represented the coutries of Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Colombia, and the United States. Cinco de Mayo is our annual spring fundraiser held in a local community. 2025 is the fourth year we have supported the Santa Fe Memorial Run, honoring those that died in the May 18, 2018 Santa Fe HS shooting.
Back to school drive, Galveston county food bank, HIS MINISTRIES, Community christmas parades
We have partnered in the past with Coastal Community Federal Credit Union to collect supplies for their annual Back To School Bash. Our members have donated food, clothing and toys during the holidays to the Galveston County Adopt a Senior program, HOPE Foundation, and HIS Ministries for those in need. We have participated in La Marque, Hitchcock, and Santa Fe community Christmas events and parades.

Whenever possible we like to partner with our local VFW posts to hold events. We held our first Christmas party and toy drive together with the La Marque VFW Post 8248. We've held Garage Sales, a mixer, and participated in a Halloween Trunk or Treat at Dickinson VFW Post 6378. We've held a mixer at the American Legion Texas City. Our commitment to the community is evident through educational initiatives and neighborhood support programs.
